Solihull Sports Awards 2018
A great way to celebrate Solihull’s sporting achievements is with the Solihull Sports Awards, which celebrates the sporting success of individuals and teams throughout the Borough.
The Awards developed in partnership with Sport Solihull and Solihull Councils Solihull Active Team are a fantastic way to of recognising athletes, those dedicated volunteers who give up their spare time to coach, and those that often get unnoticed but work tirelessly behind the scenes to help clubs run smoothly.
There are three categories of awards presented during the ceremony– the North and South Solihull School Sport Partnership Award, Solihull Talented Athlete Recognition Scheme (STARS) and Sport Solihull Award.
Who Gets Your Vote
The 2018 Awards focus on the achievements gained from July 2017 – June 2018. All nominees must live, or represent a club, in the Borough of Solihull.
Nominations need to be submitted by 5pm Friday 1st June 2018. Shortlisted nominees in each category will be invited to a presentation night at The Core Theatre on Tuesday 19th June 2018 at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
Sport Solihull Sports Awards Categories
SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR
Open to males resident in Solihull or members of Solihull based clubs.
SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
Open to females resident in Solihull or members of Solihull based clubs.
TEAM OF THE YEAR
Any team based in Solihull. Teams defined as a group of people competing together (aggregates of individual/pairs points towards a “team” score would not qualify as a team). This does not include junior/school teams who should be nominated in their respective category.
Men and women who have shown commitment, dedication and/or success in coaching junior and or senior individuals/teams/or groups on a voluntary basis.
SERVICES TO SPORT
Men and women who have shown commitment, dedication and/or success in any role with junior and or senior individuals/teams/or groups on a volunteer basis.
GEOFF SANDERS YOUNG VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Open to young volunteers (male or female) under 20 years on the day of the Awards Ceremony (19th June 2018).
DISABILITY SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR
Open to males classified disabled by their sport’s national governing body resident in Solihull or members of Solihull based clubs.
DISABILITY SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
Open to females classified disabled by their sport’s national governing body resident in Solihull or members of Solihull based clubs.
SOLIHULL COMMUNITY CLUB AWARD
A club that demonstrates being accessible to all no matter what their age or ability, looks after their volunteers and involves members, contributes to the community through charity fundraising and supporting events. A club that goes that extra mile!
