Sport Solihull represents sport in the community in Solihull. It provides a forum for the voluntary sports sector to meet and discuss a wide range of sporting matters while at the same time acting in partnership with other agencies to develop and promote sport in Solihull.

There has always been a close link between Sport Solihull, Solihull Council and SUSTAiN and with the increasing emphasis on the importance of a fit and active lifestyle and the value of competitive sport, both organisations are keen to work together to continue improving sporting opportunities in Solihull.

Sport Solihull helps voluntary sports organisations by providing:

  • information on sports facilities
  • access to funding opportunities
  • support to volunteers
  • training for coaches, referees and umpires
  • advice on first aid, child protection and other important areas related to sports clubs
  • opportunities where groups can work together to avoid overlaps and maximise the resources available

Sport Solihull also represents the opinions of local sporting organisations to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and advises on the planning of new sports facilities and activities.

Sport Solihull Small Grants

Applications are now open for the new Small Grants Programme run by Sport Solihull. New changes include:

  • An increased level of funding: now up to £1000
  • No individual applications. Applications must be made by the club for the development of the club
  • A club must produce a future development plan for their club: where the funding will go and how they see it helping the club in the long term
  • An interview process: successful clubs may be asked to meet with Sport Solihull Committee members to determine the best course of funding for them
  • 100% grants will not be awarded - the clubs are expected to make a contribution towards the project/request being made
  • Funding will also be drip fed, and clubs will be monitored and progress reviewed against funding given

The next deadline for applications is: June 25th 2012
Any applications received after this date will go to the next round of applications.

Further application deadlines are:

  • June 25th 2012;
  • September 3rd 2012;
  • November 5th 2012;
  • January 7th 2013; and
  • March 11th 2013.
